You will be picked up at Groningen station at the agreed time, and taken by bus to the hotel for the first night's stay. It is also possible to travel to the hotel on your own. The car can be parked safely at the hotel. Any parking costs are for your own account

The bus drives to Borger, the Information Centre of the Global Geopark Hondsrug, also Hunebed Centre. 

From Borger, we visit several hunebedden, one of the region's sheepfolds, we visit the Hunzedal overlooking spectacular new nature development, and take a short walk across the Drouwenerzand earth monument. On the way, the bus also passes through the LOFAR area with the largest radio telescope in the world.  

In the late afternoon, we will arrive at Hotel ..... for the second overnight stay.

Today's programme includes a visit to some characteristic, Drentsche brink villages, with their pretty Saxon farmhouses. The bus continues to one of the oldest forests in the Netherlands and the second geological monument of the Hondsrug, namely the Donderen Steilwand, which perfectly shows the structure of the Drenthe soil from the Ice Ages to the present day.

After lunch, we drive on to Veenhuizen, the second UNESCO monument of this trip: The Colony of Weldadigheid. There, a tour of Veenhuizen's beautiful complex awaits you, a visit to the prison museum, and at the famous beer brewery Maallust.

Dinner will take place at restaurant Bitter&Zoet, part of the Veenhuizen monument complex.

After dinner, the bus will drive back to the hotel in ........

Breakfast and then check-out.

For the next purpose of the trip, the driver will drive through south-east Friesland on a special puzzle route. The land of the Frisian nobility with its leafy estates and former peat extraction areas. Along the way, we will pass some special bell towers, waterworks and other typical Frisian buildings.During the ride, you will be challenged with various questions about what we will encounter along the way. 

At the end of the afternoon, the bus arrives in the Lemmer region and we check in at hotel ...... Dinner can be taken at the hotel or at one of the restaurants in Lemmer. Dinner is at your own expense this evening. 

For those who wish: an evening stroll through atmospheric Lemmer is worthwhile.

A Frisian breakfast is bound to go down well. Then check out. 

The guide at the UNESCO monument Woudaemaal expects us next, for a tour of this wonderful and unique piece of technical ingenuity. After visiting this impressive Dutch work of water, we will drive on to the Waddencentre on the Afsluitdijk. The Afsluitdijk is another one of those Dutch water works of art that is admired from all over the world.

From here, the introduction to the fourth UNESCO monument starts: the Wadden. 

The bus travels via Harlingen to Holwerd/Lauwersoog. From there, we take the ferry to Ameland or Schiermonnikoog. We check in at the hotel ....

The rest of the day and evening can be filled in as you wish, including dinner.

After breakfast, you will discover why the Wadden area is so unique. 

Exact schedule is not yet fixed, this depends on the tide. In any case, guided mudflat hiking is on the programme. We will also try to organise a so-called seal hike. For those who want, you can explore the island further, past the imposing 1881 lighthouse. Climbing is also possible, a bit of a challenge with 236 steps. Or stroll along the beach, stroll through the dunes and enjoy the unique nature and the many plant and animal species you can encounter here. 

At the end of the day, we will settle down on a cosy terrace, and get ready for our final dinner together. Together we will look back on an exhilarating trip.

After breakfast, we prepare for the journey back to the mainland and back to Groningen station. After a wistful farewell, everyone will return home. Those who travelled by their own car to the first overnight stop will be taken there by bus
