Discovering a lesser-known region of the country is fun, but discovering the region's special products and delicacies, and what top chefs prepare with them, is the very best part of travelling.
You might think you know what Groningen people eat; mustard soup, beans, potatoes with bacon and syrup, that's the best known. Also very tasty, but fortunately there is much more to discover, smell and taste.
Groningers attach great value to quality and the very best flavours, without giving it much publicity. With this culinary journey, we put the sweet and salty flavours of Groningen in the spotlight.
In these three days, you will travel through the north of the province and visit various highlights in terms of landscape and with historical significance, or of special natural value.
Along the way, you will visit some special eateries. During the dinners, your taste buds will be truly spoiled. Meet the people behind the products and meals, and marvel at their passion, how they use the products that have come from the land and the Wadden Sea for centuries in new dishes of our time.
TIP
We in Groningen are especially proud and happy to have some chefs* who cook at the very highest level, and are (have been) awarded a Michelin star for it. Dining in one of these restaurants is an experience in itself.
If you choose to have one of the dinners of your Culinary Journey in a restaurant of one of these star chefs, we will try to organise it. Booking well in advance is then necessary. The surcharge compared to the package price is from € 85.00 pp.
